Equine Assisted Growth and Learning
Equine Assisted Therapy
Professional experiential therapy that works.
The Equine Assisted Growth and Learning (EAGALA) Model is a distinct experience-based, team-approach framework designed to empower clients. During EAGALA sessions clients:
- Explore their situations
- Make connections
- Find their own solutions
Since the solutions are personally experienced in relationship with the horses the mind-body-spirit connection creates deeper, more profound, and longer lasting insights, understandings and choices. This approach has proven to support effective and quick change and grow in individuals and groups.
How does it work?
- Explore: Experiential interactions and activities with the horses are the primary focus of the session. All work with horses is done on the ground (no riding).
- Make Connections: Horses have evolved to be extremely sensitive to their environment. They instinctively analyze and react to our body language and other nonverbal cues. As a result, we are able to gain insight into our own nonverbal communication and behavior patterns.
- Find Solutions: People typically learn best by doing—both understanding the experience in their heads and experiencing them in their bodies. Team Approach: All sessions are facilitated by a licensed Mental Health Professional, an Equine Specialist, and one or more horses.
