Equine Assisted Growth and Learning
Equine Assisted Therapy
Professional experiential therapy that works.
The EAGALA Model is a distinct experience-based, team-approach framework designed to empower clients to:
- Explore their situations
- Make connections
- Find their own solutions
Since the solutions are personally experienced in conjunction with intellectual understanding, they tend to be deeper, more profound, and longer lasting. How does it work?
- Explore: Experiential interactions and activities with the horses are the primary focus of the session. All work with horses is done on the ground (no riding).
- Make Connections: Horses have evolved to be extremely sensitive to their environment. They instinctively analyze and react to our body language and other nonverbal cues. As a result, we are able to gain insight into our own nonverbal communication and behavior patterns.
- Find Solutions: People typically learn best by doing—both understanding the experience in their heads and experiencing them in their bodies. Team Approach: All sessions are facilitated by a licensed Mental Health Professional, an Equine Specialist, and one or more horses.
- Team Approach: All sessions are facilitated by a licensed Mental Health Professional, an Equine Specialist, and one or more horses.
This approach has proven to support effective and quick change and grow in individuals and groups.
